About these figures.
The Minimum Income Standard (MIS) is defined by the Isle of Man Government as part of the annual Living Wage calculation — it represents what a household is estimated to need for an adequate standard of living. We have used it here as a starting point because it is the only published basket of costs for IoM household types. However, we think it is, to put it diplomatically, challenging — in our view it understates what many households actually spend, particularly on housing, childcare, and utilities. Adjust every figure to match your real situation. The MIS is a floor, and for many people it is not a realistic one.
